As we navigate through new territory in planning for PASS Summit, we realize that this uncertainty will naturally result in new questions from our community. Transparency is key at all times, and we have been working to get the information we need to answer all of your questions as they arise.
One of the questions we have been asked most recently relates to the PASS Summit refund policy. Wendy announced earlier this month that if we are unable to move forward with an in-person event as planned, we would be ready to switch to an alternative virtual conference. We know there are still a lot of important unanswered questions—including the pricing structure, format, and timing of the virtual event—and we hope to be in a position to provide all of these answers asap and no later than June.
This will not affect your ability to get a refund. Prior to August 31 your options are as follows:
- Cancel your registration for a cash refund (minus processing fee)
- In the event we move to a virtual conference:
i. Transfer your registration and get a refund of the difference between the virtual and in-person price—this partial refund can be in cash or used as a credit for PASS Summit 2021. There will be no processing fee for this option.
ii. Apply your registration to PASS Summit 2021
After August 31 if we move to a virtual event and you have not selected your preference, we will transfer your registration to the virtual event and provide a cash refund of the difference between the virtual and in-person price.
To provide some more context around the refund processing fee, this is charged to cover third party billing and staffing costs associated with canceling a registration. The cancellation process requires time and staffing resources to ensure the correct attendee and amount are refunded. In previous years, the processing fee was USD $295, but considering the difficulties our attendees are facing, we wanted to reduce this amount as much as possible to $150.
We will meet as a community at PASS Summit whether online or in person, and we want you to understand the cancellation policies in place to give you the confidence to register now, so that you will be able to participate in the largest gathering of data professionals in the world.
The world is changing fast, which means we don’t have all the answers today. What we can do is prepare to offer a world-class attendee experience, in whichever format the event is delivered. Be assured that if we host a virtual PASS Summit, it will still deliver the same quality and quantity of leading content, networking, and access to exhibitors you have come to expect from our in-person event.
