Community Call For Speakers

Thank you for your submissions! The Call for Speakers is now closed.

Our goal is to deliver world class educational content for all data professionals who leverage the Microsoft Data Platform (and everything that connects to it). We aim to help our attendees make an impact in their role today, and to prepare them for what they need to know tomorrow.

To submit an abstract:

  1. Login to your PASS membership account. (If you don't have one, register for one now)
  2. Review the Definitions and FAQ pages.
  3. Fill out your Personal Details before submitting any abstracts. Ensure your bio conveys key areas of data related expertise and years of data related experience.
  4. Read and digitally sign the Speaker Contract before submitting any abstracts.
  5. Submit your abstracts*

* Only submitted abstracts will be considered. Saved abstracts are not considered submitted.

Deadline for submissions: Tuesday, April 2 2019 at 23:00 UTC

Overview and Targeted Content

This year, PASS has introduced three fundamental content streams that have been identified to best highlight the great content we deliver in partnership with the community each year: Data Management, Analytics, and Architecture.

Read about the streams in the PASS January blog.

In addition, this year’s PASS Summit will highlight Security, Cloud, and AI as spotlight themes across all content. Please keep these themes in mind when submitting your abstract(s), by directly or indirectly relating your abstract to the highlighted themes.

Finally, this year we want to make a real impact with targeted learning pathways that take our attendees through a specific content area, across multiple sessions. More details below.

We always look for content that is forward looking and showcases new tools and tech as we look to enable our attendees to future proof themselves for whatever changes we may see in data. We also remain grounded in today; enabling our attendees to go back to their job on Monday and make an impact with their new skills.

The following shows the percentage of sessions allocated for each stream, as well as the broad areas of technologies. Click here for a suggested, but not limited to, topics list.

Stream % of Sessions Areas of Technology
Data Management 40% - 60%

Database Administration

Database Development

Analytics 25% - 30%

Architecture 25% - 30%

Learning Paths

To enhance our attendee’s ability to target their learning, we are looking to build Learning Paths into this year’s program. Ideally, we would like a collection of three sessions, chronologically presented over the three days of PASS Summit. Some topic areas we are looking to cover include:

  • SQL Server 2019
  • Migrating from SQL Server 2008
  • Compliance
  • Getting the Most out of Open Source
  • DBA 101
  • AI for your organization

We will also consider learning pathways on other topics or specific tools or technologies. If you have a possible learning pathway that covers one of the topics above, or something else, let us know! Feel free to submit your individual sessions, but make sure you contact us at programs@pass.org with your learning pathway proposal. You need to do this to be considered.

Learning Paths can be presented by one speaker or a coordinated group of speakers.

High Level Timeline

As in previous years, PASS has begun targeting Pre-Conference and early General Session speakers. These sessions will be released over the coming months to allow us to promote some of our great content early on.  This process sits outside of our general Call for Speakers and all interested speakers should submit their sessions within this Call for Speakers. All submitters will receive notification at the end of the abstract review in early July. If you have any questions, contact us at programs@pass.org.
