Tips for Submitting

  1. Assign Some Tags

We have created a list of Tags for you to assign to your abstract. These include topics, technologies as well as languages. While these will help our Program Committee sort and review your session, they are also useful for attendees to filter to find your session on our PASS Summit 2018 website, as well as later in the Learning Center. To view of PDF of all the Tags, please click here. If you can't find a Tag that fits your session, feel free to enter it in the 'Additional Notes' section of the submission form.

  2. Check out the Session Submission Meter

Keep an eye on the session submission meter for an at-a-glance view of the number of abstracts that have been submitted per technology focus. You can also view all the submitted abstracts here.

  3. Review the list of "Hot Topics"

The PASS Program Committee has compiled a list of the top "hot" topics we're looking for! While sessions associated with hot topics are needed to balance out the Summit Program, sessions submitted on other topics are absolutely needed and are welcome. All topics and abstracts will be considered. Your best bet it to submit content you are passionate about that showcases your expertise. You can see our list of hot topics here.

  4. Add your Prerequisites

New this year, we are making the Prerequisite field visible on the PASS Summit 2018 website. This will help attendees determine if your session is applicable to them. Please list any prior knowledge or experience with a certain technology in this field. If your session does not have any prerequisites, please write "None" in the field.

Area of Focus

Here is an approximate spread of call for speakers abstracts the committee is looking for:

Targeted Speakers & Content

As with last year, PASS will again target speakers and content to ensure that we provide the most comprehensive and innovative program possible for PASS Summit 2018. In line with our progressive timeline to release speakers and content earlier this year, we are striving to publish pre-conference speakers, sessions, and open pre-con registrations, by early-to-mid-April. We also aim to publish and announce the Community PASS Summit program in early June.

It’s important for us to inform the community that with these deadlines in place, there will be overlap between the targeted and open Call for Speakers timelines. We welcome all eligible speakers to submit to the open call and we value every submission received.

If you have any further questions regarding our targeted speaker and content timelines, please contact us at

Speaker Experience

Please ensure your bio conveys your key area of data related expertise and number of years of data related experience. Please fill in your speaking experience in the Experience tab on the Personal Details page as submitters are required to have at least three prior speaking engagements. These can include any other past public speaking events, including previous PASS Summit conferences, SQLSaturday events, virtual events, or any other non-PASS events or conferences. You may also include a video link of a previous presentation or personal introduction. Visit our FAQ page for additional details.

Call for Speakers Timeline

Once the Call for Speakers closes on March 21, the Program Committee will start their Abstract Review of the submitted abstracts. We plan on notifying speakers of the status of their abstract(s) in early June, with the full program for PASS Summit 2018 set to go live shortly after. If you have any questions about the timeline, please contact us!

Good Luck with Your Submissions!
