Microsoft and The PASS Board

PASS and Microsoft have enjoyed a strong relationship dating back to PASS’ founding in 1999.

As founding members on the Board, our Microsoft counterparts have not only shared insights into the direction of the Microsoft data platform and the data industry with our organization, but they have also connected us into wider networks which have helped us to grow our community and stay ahead of emerging trends.

We have been fortunate to work with a number of Microsoft Board members over the years, whose knowledge and skills have spanned a wide variety of departments and job functions.

Our newest Board members, Ramnik Gulati and Asad Khan, have only been with PASS a short time, but their contributions to the community have been immediate.

Their collaboration with PASS and the Program Team resulted in the earliest ever release of Microsoft sessions at PASS Summit, which are typically announced in August.

Thanks to their support, this year’s program already includes a Day One Keynote from Rohan Kumar, two Pre-Conference Sessions by Bob Ward, Microsoft-led General Sessions with content dedicated to learning pathways, and on-site technical support throughout the event, at the Microsoft Data Clinic. We are excited to see the full release of Microsoft sessions coming later this summer.

Our new Board counterparts are also responsible for supporting The Modern Migration tour with both funding and content. This series of free webinars, in-person training, and virtual events, focused on preparing our community to successfully migrate to a modern data platform before SQL Server 2008 End of Support took affect on July 9, 2019.

It’s been encouraging to see such a high level of engagement from our Microsoft counterparts and dedication to the PASS community.

We were also pleased to announce yesterday that in line with this commitment to PASS, Microsoft will be continuing their global sponsorship of SQLSaturdays for FY20 (July 1, 2019 - June 30, 2020). This sponsorship includes FY20 events that have already taken place, and additionally this year, Microsoft will be looking at ways to increase their presence and funding for larger events.

As senior Microsoft representatives, Ramnik and Asad bring a lot of value and knowledge to our organization and the Board. We look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship with Microsoft and find new and exciting ways to engage our community.

Welcome to the Board Asad and Ramnik, and thank you for your ongoing support of PASS.
