Announcing the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Virtual Group

Today I’m thrilled to announce the start of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Virtual Group. The purpose of this group is to help understand and address the issues around DEI. It will also provide a platform for members of our community with underrepresented identities by highlighting their contributions and creating a space to come together for discussions and support. Additionally, this provides an opportunity for our community members who haven’t experienced issues surrounding DEI firsthand to help understand what is currently happening and how to become better allies.

I’m also happy to announce that Andrea Mascher has agreed to run this new group. I had the opportunity to meet Andrea last year at PASS Summit and I know that she’s going to do a great job. I’ve been impressed with her desire to step up and help with this.

The introduction of the DEI VG does not impact the WIT VG. They’ve created a great community over time and will continue to be a home for women in technology. Kathi Kellenberger has been acting as a mentor and advisor to the group; she has been a crucial factor in getting the DEI VG up and going.

Along with introducing the DEI VG, I also want to bring your attention to the updated Community Code of Conduct. You can find it at the bottom of the page on The Community Code of Conduct has been around for a while, but has recently been updated to include gender identity and expression. We do ask all of our community to read and follow this when interacting in PASS community events, including Virtual and Local Group meetings.

If you have any questions or would like any more information about our DEI efforts, please feel free to reach out to me at
