After having some time over the holidays to recharge batteries and get ready for the year ahead, I’d like to thank our outgoing Board members Allen White, Chris Woodruff, and Eduardo Castro for their countless hours of service to the PASS community. They will be transitioning off the PASS Board on December 31, 2018.

Their support has helped grow our audience diversity and global member engagement, ensuring that the PASS program continues to support the best content possible for data professionals.

We will also be welcoming our new Directors-at-Large to the Board on January 1, 2019:

Lori Edwards – Lori’s interest in getting involved with volunteer opportunities through PASS started after attending her first PASS Summit in 2008.

Since then, Lori’s gone on to serve on the Program Committee, the Election Review Committee, and the Nominations Committee. She has also spoken at a number of events, including SQLSaturdays, Local Groups, PASS Summit, and SQL Bits.

In 2011, Lori was awarded the PASSion award for her outstanding volunteer contributions to PASS.

Lori has over 16 years experience as a DBA, currently working as the training manager at SentryOne where she had the opportunity to build a training department that supports both customers and employees, combining her love for technology and teaching.

Roberto Fonseca – Roberto holds a bachelor’s degree in computing science and has more than 15 years of experience in his field, receiving multiple awards including the Microsoft MVP - Most Valuable Professional - which he has held since 2015. Roberto was also awarded the MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert) and the MCT (Microsoft Certified Trainer) credentials in 2006.

In 2017, Roberto was awarded the PASSion Award and I had the honor of presenting this award to him at PASS Summit in recognition of his volunteer work as a Local Group leader, SQLSaturday organizer, Regional Mentor, and on the PASS program committee.

Roberto is also the founder of a professional company in Brazil that specializes in SQL Server, helping companies of all sizes achieve better database infrastructures and experiences.

Jennifer Moser – as an employee of Microsoft for over 22 years, Jennifer has worked across support, finance, operations, and marketing organizations. While at Microsoft, she served on the PASS Board as a Founding Partner representative, focused on global outreach and inclusion within the PASS community.

Jennifer assumed leadership of the Redmond Local Group in early 2018 and has been able to bring in new speakers and attract new audiences through social media advertising.

Now at Tableau, she manages the Event Content team, delivering thousands of hours of highly-rated session content at Tableau Conference Europe in London and Tableau Conference New Orleans, to a combined audience of nearly 19,000 analysts and data professionals.

Please join me in welcoming our newest PASS Board members Lori, Roberto, and Jennifer. We look forward to their contributions to the community and to working with them to build a strong future for PASS and our educational programs.
