PASS Summit FAQ

When and where do I check in or register onsite?

The Registration counter located in the Atrium Lobby, is open daily from Sunday, October 23, through Friday, October 28. For registration hours, please see the Schedule at a Glance in the PASS Summit Program Guide, your mobile guide, or online.

When does the conference start?

PASS Summit 2016’s main conference program officially kicks off Tuesday, October 25, with the Welcome Reception at 6:30 PM. However, we also have Pre-Conference Sessions on Monday and Tuesday, October 24-25, for attendees. If you have not registered for a pre-conference session and would like to, please contact Registration at 888.714.5544 or via email. On Tuesday afternoon, first-time attendees are invited to attend an orientation and speed networking event before the Welcome Reception, at 5.15 PM, HPE Keynote Room.

What about breakfast, lunch, and breaks?

Breakfast and lunch are served in the Dell Software Dining Hall, 4EF – just keep walking past the Exhibit Hall and across the Skybridge. Breaks include sodas and other beverages, but no snacks. Note that sodas are not served during lunch.

Where are the keynote sessions?

PASS Summit starts off Day 1 and Day 2 – Wednesday, October 26 and Thursday October 27 – with a keynote session from 8:15 AM - 9:45 AM. The keynote sessions are in the HPE Keynote Room, 4A, located up the escalators to Level 4 and then take a left to enter from the South Lobby.

Where can I find the speakers’ PPT presentations?

You can access speaker-provided PPT presentations beginning Tuesday, October 25, from the PASS Summit Sessions page by clicking on the sessions you are interested in (Pre-Conference material is not available). Note that speakers may be providing presentations throughout the week, so check back regularly for updates. To access the presentations, you will need to enter your PASS member login. If you don’t have one, you can create a free PASS membership.

How do I find my PASS username/password?

From www.sqlpass.org, click "Login" in the top right corner, and then click “Forgot your password or username?”

How do I access the PASS Summit 2016 mobile program guide?

The PASS Summit 2016 mobile program guide lets you access the latest Summit program information, schedules, special events, and more from your mobile device. To get the mobile program guide, simply go to http://guidebook.com/app/passevents, download the app, and then look up “PASS Summit 2016” to download the Summit Guidebook to your smart phone. The mobile guide is available for iOS, Android, Blackberry, and web-enabled devices.

What if I can't download the mobile program guide app?

You can still access the mobile guide through your browser at https://guidebook.com/guide/72619/, and a printed program guide and session schedule is available in your attendee bag.

Where do I find session evaluation forms?

You can access PASS Summit’s online session evaluation forms via the mobile guide or at www.passSummit.com/evals. Every day, we'll draw from all the submitted forms for a grand prize of a PASS Summit 2017 registration, as well as daily giveaways of 60 $50 Amazon gift cards throughout the conference. We'll contact the winners by email and post their names on the Summit website. Your feedback is important to our speakers and everyone involved in organizing the PASS Summit program, so please take the time to fill out evaluations for all the sessions you attend.

Where are the TCC rooms?

Most of the session rooms are at the Washington State Convention Center (WSCC) but some sessions take place at The Conference Center (TCC) across the street. You can access TCC rooms via the Skybridge and following the signs past the Dell Software Dining Hall or by crossing the street outside. When you’re referring to the schedule, here is a legend to help you understand which level the TCC names indicate.

Where is the Microsoft Certification area at PASS Summit?

Microsoft will not be hosting Certification during PASS Summit 2016. But if you visit their booth in the Exhibit Hall, they will be offering a discount for all PASS Summit attendees.

What is the SQL Clinic?

The SQL Clinic is open Wednesday, October 26 to Friday, October 28. This free clinic is designed for you to work through technical issues with top Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) engineers and get architectural guidance from the SQL Server Customer Advisory Team (SQLCAT), Azure CAT, SEAL, and Tiger Teams. You can find the Clinic in 4C.

What is included on the PASS Summit 2016 session recordings and how can I purchase them?

The PASS Summit 2016 session recordings include all the conference sessions, including Day 1 and Day 2 keynotes, foundation sessions, half-day sessions, and Lightning Talks. (Note: Pre-Conference Sessions are not recorded.) Attendees can purchase either the session recordings download option for $195, or the recordings on USB flash drive for $260 (on-site). (Note: Shipping charges for the USB flash drive are $20 within the continental US and $30 international.) Session streaming will be made available for free to attendees after Summit. Non-attendees can order the session recordings on USB flash drive from the PASS Store after the conference for $995.

When will the session recordings be available?

The session recordings will be available for attendees to download approximately 6–8 weeks after PASS Summit. The recordings on USB flash drive will be mailed soon after that.

Is any content being live-streamed from PASS Summit 2016?

Yes, PASStv is back again, providing daily live-streaming of keynotes, selected technical sessions, sponsor interviews, and other content from Wednesday, October 26 to Friday, October 28. PASStv will replay the day’s programming overnight. PASStv will be broadcast from the Summit website beginning before the keynotes each day – watch the website for the programming lineup. (Note: Attendees at PASS Summit cannot live-stream PASStv within the Convention Center due to bandwidth restrictions.)

What is the Community Zone?

The Community Zone at PASS Summit is the place to bring your questions and talk with PASS Community Evangelists, Local Chapter and Virtual Chapter leaders, SQLSaturday organizers, and other data leaders about how to participate in the PASS community year-round.

Country/Language Spotlights allow you to meet with a Chapter Leader from your region or who speaks your native language. The Community Zone, open Wednesday, October 26 to Friday, October 28, is located on the 4D Skybridge.

What are the “Get to Know Your Community” sessions about?

For individuals new to PASS or PASS Summit, we’ve introduced two “Get to Know Your Community” sessions – located in TCC Yakima 1 on Wednesday, October 26 and Friday, October 28. These sessions focus on how you can make the most of your experience with PASS Summit, PASS, and the community throughout the week and beyond.

What is the Birds of a Feather Lunch?

The Birds of a Feather Lunch is happening on Wednesday, October 26 this year. Held in the Dell Software Dining Hall, a section of tables will be assigned a topic. All attendees can join the topic they’re passionate about to share ideas with MVPs, speakers, peers and members of the PASS Board while enjoying lunch. No registration required.

I heard about a “golden ticket” contest, what is that?

All attendees will find a voucher in their badge holder to redeem an attendee gift, a PASS Summit 2016 laptop sleeve. Within 10 of the sleeves, attendees will find a “golden ticket” for amazing Summit themed prizes including duffel bags, backpacks, tumblers and mugs. Prizes may be collected in the Exhibit Hall (opens 9:30am Wednesday morning) at the PASS to Prize booth.

Everyone will also have a chance to fill out the form found in the sleeve for the Grand Prize draw of an Xbox One and US$150 Windows store gift card. Completed forms need to be dropped off at the SentryOne booth in the Exhibit Hall by 1:00pm and be present for the draw at 1:30pm on Friday, October 28.

What is PASS to Prizes?

Take part in the ever popular PASS to Prizes game starting today. Stop by for a game card at the PASS to Prizes counter and collect a stamp from various booths in the Exhibit Hall. Be sure to have your completed card in the gold drum by 2:45pm on Thursday for the drawing at 2:50pm. You must be present to win.

What is the Exhibitor Raffle?

Some of our exhibitors, Delphix, HVR Software, Redgate Software and Devart are raffling off some great prizes. Visit their booths to enter. The drawings for these Exhibitor Raffles take place at 1:30pm on Friday, October 28. You must be present to win. Check out all the great prizes available.

Are there any events or activities happening after the general conference sessions end?

PASS is hosting a Welcome Reception on Tuesday, October 25 and an Exhibitor Reception on Wednesday, October 26. We are not hosting a Community Party on Thursday this year so Thursday evening is open. Join one of the numerous events hosted by a sponsor or a community member.

Is there a chapel/prayer room available at Summit?

Yes, you can find the prayer room on Level 6 in Suite A.

Is there a nursing room?

Yes, you can find the nursing room on Level 6 in Suite C.

How do I get to the airport – is there a shuttle?

PASS doesn’t provide a shuttle service to the airport. Please see your hotel concierge or speak with the concierge at the Convention Center for a variety of transportation options.

Is there a place at the Convention Center to hold my luggage before I check into my hotel or after I check out? Yes, coat check will be on Level 6, Room 657, Monday to Thursday and in the Atrium Lobby Waterfall Room on Friday with luggage storage.

Where does PASS have Local Chapters?

PASS has over 300 local chapters around the world. See the PASS Local Chapters page for a list of chapters by region. During PASS Summit, be sure to visit the Community Zone to learn how you can get involved with your local chapter.

Who is my Chapter Leader?

You can find PASS Chapter Leaders on the PASS Local Chapters page by selecting your region, then clicking on the link to your Chapter’s site.

How can I start a PASS Chapter?

Starting a PASS Chapter has never been easier. If you are interested in getting a new chapter started in your area, stop by the Community Zone at PASS Summit to talk with PASS Community Evangelists (or email community@sqlpass.org). Also make sure you read Starting a PASS Chapter for tips and the official PASS Chapter requirements.

How can I start a Virtual Chapter?

If you are interested in starting a PASS Virtual Chapter, begin by checking the PASS Virtual Chapters page to see which Virtual Chapters currently exist. You can then contact community@sqlpass.org about starting a new one.

How do I volunteer with PASS?

If you are interested in volunteering in your local community, contact your local PASS Chapter. You can contact leaders through the Chapter websites – just go to the PASS Local Chapters page to locate your region, then select your city and corresponding Chapter link. If there isn’t a local chapter in your area, check out the PASS Virtual Chapters for how you can contribute. Don’t forget to update your profile in the myVolunteering tab on myPASS so we can let you know about volunteering opportunities.

PASS SQLSaturday events are free one-day training events for SQL Server and BI professionals that focus on local speakers, providing a variety of high-quality technical sessions, and making it all happen through the efforts of volunteers.
