PASS Supports Women in Technology at The Grace Hopper Celebration

PASS was pleased to participate in The Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC) from October 4 to 6 in Orlando, FL. GHC is the world’s largest gathering of Women in Technology (WIT), and is jam-packed with exciting keynotes, sessions, a career fair, and an interview hall. It is estimated that the conference had over 18,000 attendees this year!

PASS had an objective of showing support for WIT, and connecting with a global audience of technical professionals focused on learning. GHC attracts a large number of university students, academic advisors, and industry recruiters, providing an excellent opportunity to meet with enthusiastic individuals looking to Connect, Share, and Learn.

It was encouraging to see the interest in pursuing data as a career, with many young students focusing their studies on data science. We were inspired by these young attendees looking to establish their careers, as well as the passionate academics looking to bring PASS learning opportunities back to their students.

To engage with attendees, PASS had an inflatable globe in the booth which was used to show our global presence with 300+ Local Groups across the world, and attendees were able to mark where they were from. We welcomed many new members from over a dozen different countries into the PASS community who were especially excited about joining our PASS Local Groups and PASS Virtual Groups.

It was an amazing time speaking with attendees, learning where they were from, and how they work with data! There were many opportunities to partner and continue to add value to our diverse and growing community. And congratulations to one of our newest PASS members, Manisha, who won the raffle of the inflatable globe, PASS Summit 2016 Sessions, and $250 VISA gift card. We hope you enjoyed your prize!
