Database Workloads and Access Patterns

Presenter: Jisha J

Session Details

Different workloads have different IO access patterns. It is very important to understand the workload characteristics to optimize the performance of the database. The underlying RAID configuration for the IO subsystem should also be configured specific to the application access pattern to get the maximum performance advantage. This session will cover the general access patterns of the different database components for typical OLTP and OLAP workloads. The RAID and disk layouts of the database components like data files, log files, indexes etc would also be discussed with ample details.
